Sam Serra

Sam Serra in 1976 received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University, graduating with Distinction and his Law Degree in 1979 from the University of Detroit Law School, receiving Special Honors in Trial Advocacy.

Sam clerked in law school for two years with a trial law firm and was hired there as a trial lawyer after graduating in 1979. Sam worked at that law firm until 1982, when he began his own law firm specializing in trial work.

Sam has taken a special interest in representing clients who have suffered injuries from the wrongful and negligent acts of others. He has handled thousands of cases collecting millions of dollars for his clients in all areas of personal injury cases, including:

In addition to representing injury clients in the tri-county area, Sam has represented clients throughout the State of Michigan in multiple Circuit and Federal Courts. He has represented clients as far north as Sault Ste. Marie, as far west as Grand Rapids and as far south as Monroe.

Because of his vast experience in handling injury cases and insurance matters, Sam has been appointed by the Macomb and Wayne County Circuit Courts to act as a case evaluator. He, as an evaluator, assists other attorneys in trying to resolve their cases. The attorneys submit written summaries and give an oral presentation to Sam about their case and Sam, with other members of his case evaluation panel, place a suggested settlement value on the case.

Sam is a member of The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Lawyers, Past President of the Macomb County Trial Lawyers Association and a Past Chairperson for the Negligence Section of the Macomb County Bar Association. He has organized, monitored and spoken at a multitude of seminars for other lawyers on the topic of personal injury and insurance claims. Many of Sam’s cases come from referrals from other attorneys who, because of his vast experience, trust Sam with their client’s cases. Sam as a trial attorney has handled numerous criminal matters for clients from minor traffic offenses to serious felonies and will and trust contest matters.

Sam also is an experienced estate planning attorney, providing advice to clients on how to protect their assets during their lifetime and after death. He drafts Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills and Ladybird Deeds. He has been asked to and conducted numerous seminars on Estate Planning by and for churches, senior groups and hospitals.
